Donald J. Welch, age 85, of Erie, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Erie on April 10, 1936, a son of the late Gerald and Alice (Snyder) Welch.
Donald attended McDowell High School and worked at Autoclave Engineers for 34 years retiring in 1998. He was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Don enjoyed hunting, golfing, and spending time with family and friends at camp in Spring Creek.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Marjorie (Lewis) Welch; four siblings, Bruce, Bud and Ray Welch and Maryann Briggs; a brother-in-law, William Briggs, and sister-in-law, Grace Welch.
Survivors include a son, Brian S. Welch (Carol) of Girard; two grandchildren, Emily Welch, and Sean Welch (April); two great grandchildren, Aiden, (Oakley expected December 14) and Barrett; four siblings Robert "Butch" Welch (Emelia) of Dunkirk, NY, Thomas "Kutch" Welch (Peggy) of Bradford, PA., Susan Romanski (Peter) of Erie and Cindy Haas (Roger) of Stockton, NY. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
