LT Jeffery Wade Stewart walked into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, December 12, 2021. He was 63 years old.

A Middle Georgia resident all of his life, Jeff was born and raised in Macon. He attended Central High School where he excelled at football. He was a member of the 1975 state championship team, the last team from Macon to win a state title. He graduated in 1976 and went on to attend Troy State University.

After his college days, Jeff took a job with the Macon-Bibb Fire Department. He spent two years in Macon before transferring to the Warner Robins Fire Department where he would spend 32 years in service to his community, earning the rank of lieutenant. In addition to being a fireman, Jeff was also a member of the fire department's honor guard for 14 years. As part of the Georgia Search and Rescue Team, he went to the gulf coast to help with relief efforts from Hurricane Katrina.

Helping those less fortunate was something that Jeff was passionate about. He spent countless hours raising funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Not only did he participate in the "Fill the Boot" campaign, but Jeff was in the MDA's firefighter calendar as Mr. January. He was heavily involved in many different fundraising events for the charity. A champion bodybuilder, Jeff won the distinction of becoming Mr. Georgia. For several years, Jeff was a bailiff for the Georgia State Court system.

A longtime member of Southside Baptist Church, he led a small group for young married couples. He was a devoted family man who was dedicated to his Lord and Savior and his absence leaves a hole in the hearts of those who loved him.

Preceding Jeff in death were his parents, James R. Stewart, Sr. and Elizabeth Ann Stewart.

Left to treasure his memory are his sons, Colby Wade Stewart, Caden Lee Stewart, and Callen Trey Stewart, all of Bonaire; brothers, Jimmy Stewart (Candy) of Atlanta, and Scott Stewart (Jenni); several nieces and nephews; as well as his dear friend, caregiver, mother of his children, and former wife, Miranda Stewart.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at McCullough Funeral Home. Jeff's funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, December 17, 2021 at Southside Baptist Church with Reverend Chad Wood officiating. He will be laid to rest at Magnolia Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 152 N. Crest Blvd, #C, Macon, GA 31210 or to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
