Joseph "Joe" Patrick Kelly, 87, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2021. He was a beloved brother, uncle, friend, and companion. Joe was born on October 1, 1934 in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Alice and Joseph Kelly. He graduated from Mankato State College in Minnesota in 1958 with a major in Business Administration. After graduating, he initially worked in private industry. He soon joined his brothers, James and John, in Northern Virginia and was employed by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) for 30 years. At GAO, he was engaged in the process of providing, upon request, reports to the United States Congress. Throughout his life, Joe enjoyed a variety of athletic activities, including wrestling, baseball, bowling, golf, tennis, billiards, and dancing. He was a high school and collegiate wrestler. In high school, he was the 1951 Minnesota State Wrestling Champion for his weight class. He also played shortstop for his hometown baseball team. As an adult, he coached wrestling for the Braddock Road Youth Club for 11 years. In addition, he was an exceptional bowler. His two perfect 300 games and his 200 plus average over the years attest to this. He is survived by his beloved companion Joan Dyson, brother James Kelly (Joyce), identical twin brother John Kelly (Eldora), 13 nieces and nephews, and numerous grand and great grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Kelly; sisters Dorothy Kelly, Loretta Tvedt, and Vivian Peterson; and nephew Larry Squires. A funeral service will be held at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA on Thursday, December 23 at 10:00 am. A burial service will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to a charity of your choice in memory of Joseph P. Kelly. Joe will surely be missed. May he rest in peace.
