Thomas Charles Bates passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at the age of 78. He was born on June 6, 1943, in Gatesville, TX and was a longtime resident of Norco, LA.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee Bates and Rosalee Rodgers Bates, and his siblings, Buddy Bates, Larry Bates, and Rosemary Hebert (Eric).

He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Jeanne Guillot Thibodaux Bates, children, Thomas Bates Jr., Mike Bates, James "Jimbo" Bates, Monica Andry (Sam), and Mark Thibodaux, grandchildren, Cory Andry (Ashley), Logun Bates (Amber), Lily Bates, and Beaux Bates, and great-grandchildren, Bryer Bates, Rylee Andry, and Avery Andry.

Thomas worked as a diesel mechanic on heavy equipment and was always available to help a neighbor in need. He has a good heart and loved spending time with his grandchildren and taking care of animals. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his kindness.

A private service will be held at H. C. Alexander Funeral Home. Interment will follow at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery.
