Anna "Rexine" Johnson, age 86, of Granby, Missouri, passed away at 7:02 p.m. on Monday, December 13, 2021, at her home. She was born January 5, 1935, in Granby, the daughter of the late George and Inabel (Bolin) Prier. On May 10, 1954, she married Johnny L. Johnson in Fairbanks, Alaska. He preceded her in death on August 4, 2014.
Rexine graduated from Granby High School and was a member of the Granby P.T.A. and the First Baptist Church of Granby. Following her junior year in high school, she went to Flint, Michigan for the summer and returned with profound confidence becoming the Granby High School Yearbook Editor. She worked as a bookkeeper for MFA, Allen Electric, and Superior Vanities. Rexine loved doing puzzles, word games, and watching soap operas, and the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball. She was an avid bowler, winning the State Championship in team bowling and with her friend Peggy Nance in doubles. Rexine also loved to travel, going to Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Tupelo, and in her younger years, taking annual family vacations. She dearly enjoyed her grandchildren's sporting events, and the highlight of her life was going to Silver Dollar City with them all and finally making a trip to Disneyland.
She will be sadly missed by her two sons, Ted Johnson and his wife, Billie, and Andy Johnson and his wife, Angie, all of Joplin; four grandchildren, Miranda Malin, Chandler, Dillon, and Devon Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Nora Jo and Henry Malin; one brother, Alfred Prier of Lewisville, Texas; and one sister, Darlene Kirk of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In addition to her parents and husband, her granddaughter, Hailey Johnson, preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2021, at the Clark Funeral Home in Granby, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Rexine will be interred at Granby Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Horses of Hope c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
