Mr. Chaput died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1991, at Mount Joseph Care Home in Concordia.
He was born Sept. 18, 1908, in Aurora, the son of George and Lucy Goyette Chaput. He began working for his father in the funeral and furniture business at the age of 17. He graduated from Aurora High School in 1927, and attended St. Benedict's College in Atchison. He graduated from Williams Institute of Embalming in 1929 in Kansas City, Kan., and became a Kansas licensed embalmer in 1930.
Mr. Chaput was recognized by the Kansas Funeral Directors and Embalmers Assn. in 1980 as a licensed embalmer for 50 years.
He was a member of the Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
He married Louise J. Odette on Oct. 4, 1932, in Concordia. She died July 11, 1979. He also was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters and a grandson.
Survivors include a son, Odette Chaput, Plainville; five daughters, Connie Budreau, Lincoln, Laura Jo Meyer, Concordia, Ann Kliem, Lawrence, Regina Vignery, Lincoln, and Mary Janet Brumfield, Clay Center; two brothers, Leon, Aurora, and John, Concordia; two sisters, Sister Marie Chaput and Sister Germaine Chaput, both of Concordia; 29 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
