Ball Services Set On Sunday

He wanted to To something other than just sit in Germany so SP5 Michael Henry Ball, 22, asked to be transferred to Viet Nam. He volunteered because as he wrote his family, "I want to really do something to help get the war over in Viet Nam." On April 23, SP5 Ball did do all he could. He gave his life while in combat.

The young soldier who had been stationed in Germany for nine months had been home on leave in January before being sent to overseas duty. It was the last time his family saw him.

On Sunday at 2 p.m. from the First Methodist Church in Carrollton full military rites will be held for SP5 Ball with the Rev. B. C. Nunn assisted by the Rev. W. Martin Smith officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

He leaves his mother Mrs. Helen Ball of North Carrollton; his father Hayden Ball of Memphis; a sister Mrs. Gene Sanders, Carrollton; two brothers Beck Ball, Memphis and Robert Ball, North Carrollton.
