Dean Marriner Evans, 68, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021 at his home in Blackfoot.

Dean was born March 30, 1953 in Blackfoot, Idaho, the son of Thain Marriner and Helen May Briggs Evans. His name was chosen after the attending physician that delivered him, C. Dean Packer. He was born on his older brother, Byron's birthday. The brothers shared many birthday parties together.

Dean was raised in Wapello, somewhere he was proud to call his home. He was raised on a farm which he loved, especially working beside his dad.

He attended Wapello grade school and in 1971 graduated from Blackfoot High School. He was very active in the FFA, serving in many local and district offices. Ag was his passion and his life-long career.

Dean attended Ricks College the winter semester of 1972. After one semester, he quit, stating, "I can learn more from my dad than I can out of these books."

Dean served an LDS mission to Sydney, Australia from 1973-1975. After returning he began dating Janet Marie Landon, who lived in the same ward. Afterward, he often said, "I traveled around the whole world and came back to Wapello to find my eternal companion." They were married August 14, 1976 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were blessed with three boys, Gary, Blaine and Doug and a daughter Ann Marie. They continued to farm in the Wapello area.

When the boys returned from their missions, they too wanted to farm and so together they were able to expand and farm together. Dean was so proud of his family.

Dean was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, his favorite calling was serving as a member of the Blackfoot Stake High Council and was assigned to the Blackfoot 1st Ward. He loved the members of that ward. He served in the Wapello 1st Ward Bishopric among other various callings and served faithfully wherever asked.

Dean served on the Blackfoot Irrigation Canal Board for many years, his last 16 years serving as secretary.

Dean had the amazing talent of being able to talk with anyone. People were his hobby. He loved to tell stories and if you would listen, he would tell you one too. After being diagnosed with cancer, people were his therapy; he loved to talk.

Dean loved a good Utah Jazz game. He loved Joe Ingles and would yell "Way to go, Joe" each time he sunk one of his amazing 3 pointers. He enjoyed the times he could attend in person and take his friends with him. One game he was able to shake hands with Thurl Bailey. Keep going Jazz!

Dean is survived by his wife, Janet, of 45 years; his sons Gary (MaryLynn), Blaine (Kayla), Douglas (Julie), and daughter Ann Marie (Jacob) Davies, all of Blackfoot; grandchildren, Emalee, Jake (serving in the Michigan, Lansing mission), Megan, Landon, Braxton, Kodie, Kaymn, Briggs, Luke, Abby, Katelyn, Courtney, Autumn and Dax Evans, Chelsea, Dean, and Oakley Davies; his siblings Craig (Shari) Evans, Byron (Laura) Evans, Linda (Von) Cornelison and his sister-in-law, Kathy Evans; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog Rocky.

He was preceded in death by his older brother Lynn; his parents Thain and Helen Evans and his in-laws Max and Nyla Landon.

A special thanks to the Teton Cancer team for their many hours of care and service; Jed Bartschi and especially Dr. Dane Dickson for his amazing faith and encouragement. He always called Dean his "miracle man". After 55 chemo treatments and 2 Y90 treatments, radiation and a year of immunotherapy treatments he truly is our HERO and we love you and will miss you, Deano.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021, at the Wapello LDS Church, 337 N. 200 E. The family will meet with friends on Friday evening from 6-8 pm in Blackfoot at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. and again on Saturday at the church for an hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
