Bill H. Davenport of Sevierville went to his Heavenly home on Friday December 10th at the age of 80.
Bill, a gentle Christian, was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Sevierville where he served as an usher and Sunday School teacher in the Children's Department. His love for the Lord led him to deep research in the bible and history. Bill was a leader in the community and began his leadership as the president of the 1959 graduating class at Sevier County High School. He later went on to serve as president of the Sevier County Optimist Club. He loved East Tennessee, the Vols, and driving our beautiful mountain and country roads. He spent his time playing tennis and creating art through poetry, watercolor painting, writing, and sketches. Travel to any beach was always a welcomed adventure as well as time spent relaxing on the lake. Professionally he served his community with 39 years in the insurance industry and 18 years in real estate as both an agent and broker.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents Herman and Ruby Davenport.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn Davenport, his son Scott Davenport and his special friend Mendy Hodges; his daughter Sherri Crawford and her husband David of Myrtle Beach, SC; his grandchildren Austin Davenport and girlfriend Brooke Gibson; and great granddaughter Evelyn Rose (Evie); his step-grandson Jesse Santos and his wife Mallory of Cottonwood, AZ; and great granddaughter Magdalene Santos.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church Children's Department or Friends of the Smokies.
The family will receive friend from 11AM-1 on Thursday, December 16th in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with a service following at 1PM with Pastor Craig Mintz officiating. Interment will follow in Middle Creek Cemetery.
