Robert "Bobcat" Chessley Johnson, 72, of Kountze, Texas passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021. Bob was born in Falferris, Texas on October 30, 1949 to Robert Chessley Johnson Sr. and Betty Mayhall Johnson.

Bob was a character of a man, full of life and the colorful stories that come from a life well lived. Bob proudly served his country during a time of need and was a proud US Army Vietnam Veteran and lifetime member of the Village Mills VFW. He was a man with a heart the size of Texas, always willing to do for others. Bob loved spending time at the VFW and helping at the VA as well when not hunting or fishing. To say Bob was an avid hunter would be an understatement- he absolutely loved hunting and would gladly hunt anything that came his way; the bobcat he got his namesake from is evidence of that! A kind and loving man better known as Poppy to his grandchildren, Bob was truly a man who put family first. Strong and capable, he was a mechanic all his life and truly could fix just about anything. His humor, compassion, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Gloria Ann Landry Johnson of Kountze, his daughter, Courtney Johnson Deggs and husband Wesley of Groves, Texas, his brother, Michael Johnson, his sister, Jane Burch and his grandchildren, Evie Deggs and Will Deggs.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents.

To honor Bob's dedication to his country, a ceremony honoring Bob's life will be held at his local VFW at a later date. Please check back for more information ~
