Wilma Jane Simmons, 81, of Amarillo died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. G.A. Roach officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Carmen Cemetery in Carmen, Okla.

Mrs. Simmons was born April 11, 1926, in Del Rio to John and Ethel Barnett. She met and married Corwin Simmons on Nov. 11, 1944.

Mrs. Simmons was a caregiver all of her life. She worked as a nurse's aide at Bivins Nursing Home for 27 years. She loved taking pictures and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Corwin; an infant son, David; and three brothers, Dan, Jimmy and Raymond Barnett.

Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Arnold and husband Elmo Torres of Amarillo; two sons, Kenneth Simmons and John Simmons and wife Tara, all of Amarillo; a sister, Gladys Ethel Green of San Antonio; nine grandchildren, JoAnn, Corlynn, Davin, Kele, James, Carolyn, Emily, John Jr. and Catharine; and 21 great-grandchildren, Anthony, Rachael, Sara, Colby, Shawn, Paul, Jennifer, Cody, Randy, Cheynne, Wyatt, Citori, Carson, Dillon, Kaden, Aria, Jordon, Sydnee, Quinten, Gentry and Corwin.
