Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, William D. "Bill" Ryan (LTC, USA, Ret); her parents, Rowland and Ruby Jones; sister, Jean Jones Thacker.
Survived by her children, Glen D. Ryan (Tammy), Kevin D. Ryan (Christa), Karen Ryan Forsten (Stephen), Kimberly Ryan Clark (John); grandchildren: Kyle Ryan (Darcy), Craig Ryan (Erica), Meaghan Ryan Carver (Cole), Jacob Forsten, Ryan Forsten, Jeb Clark and William Clark; great-grandchildren: Anne Marie, Olivia, Betsy Grace and Ruby Lynn Ryan; sister, Barbara Bailey (Wayne); brother, William Rowland Jones (Becky); along with several nieces and nephews.
After traveling the world courtesy of the US Army, and retiring in Spring City, TN, Doris and Bill moved to Tellico Village in 1993. They were both very involved in the community, and after Bill's passing, Doris continued with the theater, bridge and traveling. She loved to spend time with her family and friends, and she was always the life of any party she attended. Every restaurant in town knew Doris liked her toast toasted, her bacon crispy and her coleslaw dry!
A celebration of Doris' life will be held at the Community Church in Tellico Village on Tuesday, December 21st at 3:00 p.m. in the Founders Chapel. Interment will be in the Chattanooga National Veterans Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN.
