SUNRISE: SEPTEMBER 13, 1961 - SUNSET: DECEMBER 7, 2021

On December 7, 2021, an incredible woman was transformed into an angel. It is with inconsolable grief and enduring sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and friend, Angela Jeannette Newman.

Angela Jeannette Newman was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 13, 1961, to Wilfred George Jackson Jr. and Beverly Bernice Mitchell. Mom was the younger sister to Michael Joseph Jackson. Shortly after mom's birth, her family relocated to Los Angeles, California where she grew up and spent her life in Southern California. Mom attended Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, California and was a part of the graduating class of 1979. She furthered her education at California State University, Los Angeles. In a few short years, Angela became a member of the insurance industry for nearly forty years. She was more than a coworker and a boss; she was a devoted mentor.It was through work, that mom met the love of her life, our father Everett Raymond Newman in the summer of 1989 and they married May 19, 1990. Ironically, the first outfit he ever saw her in that caught his eye was Angela's famous peach dress with the shoes and nails to match; this was also her favorite color which is why you see highlights of peach today in her honor. In 1990, Everett and Angela moved to Marina Del Rey and started their family. They first had Andre Lanoix Newman on May 2, 1992. Soon after Angela and Everett moved to Chino Hills, California and had their daughter Monique Danielle Newman on December 3, 1997. The town of Chino Hills is where Everett and Angela made their home, started their family, and found their community.Mom was born into the church and had her mother for guidance as a pastor at Sweet Hour of Prayer in Los Angeles, California. She gave her life to Christ at a young age and joined Faith Center Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Donald R. Gridiron Sr.

The final few years of her life proved to give her the ultimate obstacles and challenges. In August of 2017, mom was diagnosed with a rare form of uterine cancer. She spent the past four and half years on "Her journey" as she called it; faithfully battling like the warrior she was and continues to be. With the aid from gracious medical teams, treatments, and unrelenting faith she significantly exceeded the life expectancy of the diagnosis.It's not often you find a person who has been through so much pain and sacrifice yet made so little excuses. I know this news of her passing may come as a surprise to most. Please know that our mother was reluctant to share the intricate details of her journey not because she didn't trust your love but because she wanted to protect it. Even in her final days, she never lost her quick wit, sense of humor and most of all her ability to make others feel at ease with her peace and faith in the Lord.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents Wilfred George Jackson Jr. and Beverly Bernice Mitchell and her brother Michael Joseph Jackson. She leaves to cherish her memory: A loving and devoted husband of 31 years Everett Raymond Newman, her daughter Monique Danielle Newman, her son Andre Lanoix Newman (Kristen Sara-Ann Wooten and Rilynn Monroe Wooten). In-laws Althea and Everett Newman of New Orleans, Louisiana and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.Only another strong, independent and beautiful woman such as Maya Angelou could envelope a part of my mother's soul with words: "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
