Arlene L. Baartman, 86, of Decatur, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Bronson Lakeview Hospital in Paw Paw.

Per Arlene's wishes, cremation has taken place and the family will be honoring her privately with a graveside service. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later time for friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Decatur Bible Church, American Heart or Cancer Association, or to the family, in care of Arie Baartman. Arlene was born March 5, 1935, in Chicago, IL to Emily (Simanek) Bell. She graduated from South Haven High School in 1953. On September 3, 1955, she married the love of her life, Arie Baartman, Sr. She enjoyed making puzzles and gardening. Arlene had a strong faith in God, and that was shown through her commitment as a lifelong member of the Decatur Bible Church. She enjoyed being outside in nature feeding and watching the birds. She had love for animals, especially her cats. Most of all she loved her family and will be greatly missed.

Arlene is survived by her son, Arie (Carrie) Baatrman and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Emily Bell; husband, Arie Baartman, Sr.; siblings, James Bell, Robert Bell, Elizabeth Bus and Diana VanVoorst; nephew, Michael VanVoorst and niece, Vicki Lumsden.
