Robert Maurice Cooper, age 84, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021. He was born in Indianapolis on April 14, 1937, to Luther Benton and Louise Ruth (Mills) Cooper. He graduated from Charlottesville High School in 1955 and attended Purdue University. Robert was a U.S. Marine veteran, and he married Diana Sue Madison on October 1, 1960.

He worked for General Motors for 30 years before retiring in 2009. He was a member of Greenfield Lions Club, Moose Club of Indianapolis, and Bethel Baptist Church. He enjoyed participating in bowling leagues, woodworking, jigsaw and word puzzles, fishing, gardening, and golfing. Robert was a Purdue basketball fan, and he loved the time he was able to spend going on vacations with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Diana Cooper of Greenfield; daughters, Vanessa Brizendine (Mark), Robin Zimmermann, and Terri Cooper, all of Greenfield; brother, Tommy Cooper (Sandy) of Bowling Green, Ky.; grandchildren, Heidi Brewer, Chris Brewer, Mitchell Cooper, Michelle (Brewer) Riley, Mike Brewer, Adam Brizendine, and Ashley Brizendine; fourteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and best buddy, Doug Perkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Louise; four infant sisters; and siblings, Pat Goff, Sonny Cooper, Billy Cooper, Johnny Cooper, Norman Cooper.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 1610 S. State St., Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will begin immediately following visitation at 11:00 a.m. Pastors Tommy Hensley and Randall Parker will be officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with military honors.
