Professional Basketball Player. A native of Ohio, he played at the guard and forward positions for four seasons (1952 to 1956) in the National Basketball Association, with the Minneapolis Lakers and Fort Wayne Pistons. Holstein's career highlights came as a member of two NBA championship teams (1952-1953 and 1953-1954 Lakers), on a roster that featured Hall of Fame teammates George Mikan, Vern Mikkelsen and Slater Martin. Prior to his NBA career, Holstein played collegiate basketball at Cincinnati. In 225 career regular season games, he scored 859 points with 249 assists.
