Family will receive family and friends on Friday June 15, 2007 from 7 P. M. to 8:30 P. M. at Swicegood Funeral Home. Swicegood Funeral Home, Danville is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors includes her son and his wife; two granddaughters of Auburn, Alabama; one great-granddaughter of Geneva; three sisters - one of Danville; one of Buena Vista, Virginia, and one of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two brothers - one of Charlotte, North Carolina and one of Danville.
Preceded by her husband, Roy G. Dowdy, Sr.; brother Travis Bond; and sister Leola Bond Shackelford.
Virginia Bond Dowdy of Geneva and formerly of Danville, Virginia died at Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva on Monday, June 11, 2007 after a short illness. Mrs. Dowdy was a charter member of Forest Lawn Baptist Church in Danville. She retired from Dan River Mills after 47 years of service. Following the death of her husband in 1997, she moved to Geneva.
