Geneva Hughes Wall, 77, widow of James Wall, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021, in a Kingstree hospital.
Mrs. Geneva was born in Hemingway, a daughter of the late Frank and Oscette Avant Hughes. Throughout her life, she was a homemaker and an active member of her community. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Hemingway where she taught Sunday School and was a former president of the Women's Ministries. Mrs. Geneva was a professional witness who shared the gospel with everyone she came across. She spent her time focused on others, at times working as a seamstress, a caregiver to people in the community, and a babysitter. She was a gifted cook with a great love of cooking. Mrs. Geneva spent time sending out cards to her friends and family for birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays, especially after she became unable to visit. Most of all, Mrs. Geneva loved Jesus, her family, her church, and anyone else with whom she came into contact.
She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, James Wall; son, Jimmy Wall; brothers, Mack Avant and Franklin Hughes; sister, Doris Avant; and brother-in-law, Hoss Johnson.
