Robert Austin "Bobby" Gibbs, 80, of Tifton passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2021, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Corey Hand and the Rev. Steve Davis officiating. Mr. Gibbs was laid to rest at Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton.

Coleman Griffin, Will McCranie, Joshua Love, Clay Griffin, David Jernigan and Landry Pittman will serve as pallbearers.

Born November 7, 1941, in Enigma, Mr. Gibbs as the son of the late Mack Amos Gibbs and Mattie Lou Rowe. He served nine years in the United States Air Force and retired from Tifton Aluminum after thirty years of employment. He was a long-time member of Zion Hope Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 21. Bobby enjoyed many years of fishing and bowling with family and friends.

Mr. Gibbs is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Barnes Gibbs of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Miriam and John Ethridge and Karen and Clay Griffin, all of Tifton; five grandchildren, Savanah and Joshua Love, Harper McCranie, Coleman Griffin, Mikaela Griffin and Will McCranie; two great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Oliver Love; and his siblings, Alexis Jernigan of Nashville, Patsy Merritt of Texas, Paul Gibbs of Fayetteville, Peggy Buchholz of Athens, Polly Burns of Texas and Penny Gibbs of North Dakota.

Bowen Donaldson Home for Funerals was in charge of arrangements.
