Dorothy J. Welch, 96, of Decatur, IL died Thursday, December 9, 2021

Dorothy was born on March 21, 1925, in Decatur, IL. the daughter of Harry S. Swank and Rose Tilton Swank. She was a bookkeeper for several businesses in the Decatur area. She married Anthony "Tony" Welch on Sept. 18, 1945. Her love of teaching led her to be a Sunday school teacher for over 60 years.

She was a faithful member of West Decatur Church of God and an active member of the Illinois Women's Christian Service Council. She was inducted into the IL WCSC Hall of Fame in 2016 for her many years of service to the Lord. Dorothy loved to read, crochet, and play Bingo and Rummikub.

Surviving are her daughters; Nancy Purdeu (Larry) of Decatur, Toni Lindley (David) of Peoria, AZ, son; Dennis Welch (Donna) of Decatur, stepson; Robert (Alice) of Kenney, IL, sisters; Anna Koontz of Pana, IL and Norma Malone of Cerro Gordo, IL, special niece; Cindy Koontz of Pana, and very special helper and friend; Patricia Blankenship, nine grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, one stepson, three brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday (12-14-2021) at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home 2091 N. Oakland Ave. Decatur, IL. 62526, with visitation from 4-6 P.M. Monday (12-13-2021) at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Boody, IL.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, West Decatur Church of God (missions) 4500 W. Main St. Decatur, IL, The Bridge Christian Fellowship Church (food bank), 520 W. Elm St., Argenta, IL, or food bank of your choice.
