Richard H. Hoffman, 87, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Saturday December 4, 2021 at Beacon Hospital in La Porte.

He was born October 19, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Nick Hoffmann and Ardelle (Rowley) Hoffmann.

Richard was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church-La Porte and was the head usher there for 20 years. Richard also served in the United States Army and worked for L.T.V. Steel as a boilermaker for 38 years.

On February 7, 1959, in Knox, IN, he married Sharen (Burdine) Hoffmann who survives. He is also survived by his two sons, Jerry Hoffman of La Porte, IN, and James R. Hoffman; grandchildren, Jennifer, John, Jacqueline (John) Salyer; great-grandchildren, Hadlee Sue Salyer, Conner Lee Salyer, Amelia Salyer, and Gianna Salyer.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN. A private graveside service took place Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Swan Lake Cemetery Michigan City, IN with Pastor Bob Vale officiating.
