The morning of Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 4:00 a.m., John B. Watts left his earthly body at the age of 99 years old at Countryside Health and Rehabilitation in Bardwell.

He was born in Dukedom on April 18, 1922 to the late Isaac Wayne Watts and Ora Mae Simons Watts. Mr. Watts began his adult life as a farmer and eventually became a carpenter and worked for many friends around Carlisle County. He was a devoted Christian and a regular member of Milburn Methodist Church. The last Sunday he attended was November 21, 2021. He truly loved his Sunday school class and teacher.

Mr. Watts left behind a sister, Ethel Dillon of Clinton; a son, John R. Watts of Sheridan, Illinois; and two daughters, Jackie (Jim) Bell and Jayne (Lewis) Goldsmith, both of Milburn. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nete Watts; his parents; three sisters, Ruth Puckett, Lilian Pruitt and Mae Barner; one daughter-in-law, Dora Watts; and one grandson, Christopher Watts.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services for John will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Milburn Methodist Church with Rev. John M. Frizzel and Pastor Johnathan Althoff officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at Milburn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Milburn Methodist Church.
