Rosa Martinez, age 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on December 3, 2021. Rosa was born on September 13, 1938 in Guadalupe, Mexico and immigrated to the United States at the age of 10. She and her husband eventually settled in Fresno, CA to raise their family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Salvador G. Martinez; her son, Salvador Martinez Jr.; her brothers, John Sandate and Manuel Romero Jr.; and parents, Manuel and Anunciación Romero. Rosa is survived by her sister, Lori Marinero; her children, Gloria Hernandez and her husband Carlos, Josie Sanchez and her husband Joe, Jesse Martinez and his wife Theresa, Ana Manzula and her husband Mark, Juan Martinez, and John Sandate Jr. and his wife Edelmira; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Rosa will be remembered as a loving, kind, humble, and generous person. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, whose door was open to all. Rosa was a dedicated homemaker; on most days you would find her making her homemade tortillas to compliment her family's favorite comfort foods. One of her most cherished family traditions included making her famous tamales on Christmas Eve, surrounded by friends, family, laughter, and love. She will be forever missed and held closely in the hearts of all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at Yost and Webb Funeral Home on Monday, December 27th from 5:00 to 7:00, followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Queen of Apostles Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 28th, at 10:00 a.m. Inter-ment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
