Billie Rae Barnes, age 77, of Clay City, passed away on the afternoon of Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. Billie was born July 2, 1944 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a daughter of the late James Wilbur and Helen Marie (Van Horn) Wheeler.

Billie was a graduate of Emmerich Manual High School and had worked as a florist at Kroger and retired after 18 years of service. Billie loved being outdoors and spent much of that time fishing and camping. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and her favorite place she had visited was Canada. Billie was a doll collector and was also a very good cook. She was a kind spirit and loved her family deeply, especially her grandchildren.

Billie is survived by her husband of 22 years, Bob Barnes; her children, Randy (Robin) White as well as a daughter; her grandchildren, Craig (Hunter) Marshall and Zachary and several step-grandchildren; her sisters, Linda Lavine and Thelma Knight; her brothers, Gary Wheeler, Jim Wheeler and Jeff Hodges and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood with Pastor Danny Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
