Gloria Lopez Garcia
Gloria Lopez Garcia, 81, died on December 5, 2021, at Cottage in the Meadow in Yakima, Washington. She was born on March 22, 1940, in Zacatecas, Mexico, the daughter of Miguel Lopez and Josefa De Leon. She eventually moved to the United States where she met and married her husband, Alfonso Hernandez Garcia in Cuidad Juarez, Mexico in 1963. Together they had a son Alfonso Garcia, Jr. Gloria became a U.S. Citizen in the late 1970s.

Gloria worked various jobs in the tree fruit agricultural industry until she retired in 1982 when she decided to focus on raising her son and working for the church. Gloria loved to cook, and she loved to knit. She was exceptional at both. She was a devout Christian and she loved reading the Bible and sharing her faith with anyone who would listen. She was active in her church and as she became older, she was like a sister and surrogate mother to women of all ages. She loved her family who lived in El Paso, Texas, and would visit them frequently for most of her young life.

She is survived by her son, from Yakima, Washington. and her siblings from El Paso, Texas, and Chicago, Illinois.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA.
