Obituary:
TERRE HAUTE - Helen Ann "Pat" Bays Murphy was born on May 29, 1931 in Terre Haute, Indiana, and was the daughter of Margaret and Elmer "Sticks" Bays.

She graduated from State High School in Terre Haute in June 1949 and was employed for many years at Thompson Symon. She passed away peacefully on March 11, 2021, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana, with her daughter Latona and granddaughter Erin at her side.

On Valentine's Day 1976 she married the love of her life, George Murphy. In July 1977, she and George moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida, to manage the Chateau by the Sea Condominiums. During their time there they made many new and lifelong friends that included the condominium owners, the Board of Directors and several of the regular guests.

Many of the guests of the Chateau worked in the space industry at the nearby space center. Pat and George thoroughly enjoyed witnessing the space shuttle launches and benefited by the space center guests often sharing when it might be a "good time" for her and George to be outside looking in the direction of the space center.

In 1988, Pat and George decided to retire and moved back to the north side of Terre Haute where Pat resided for the rest of her life. After retiring she adopted three Maltese dogs that were a wonderful part of her life bringing her great joy and contentment.

During her life she enjoyed traveling with her husband George, visiting many different states and several countries. They particularly enjoyed their trips to Ireland.

Many years ago, she was baptized in the Lutheran Faith along with her son and daughter.

She is survived by her husband George, son Ralph Lee (wife Bonnie) of Madison, Indiana; and her daughter, Latona Lee of Terre Haute; and stepsons Rick Murphy (wife Cindy) of Montezuma, Indiana, and Ron Murphy of Terre Haute. She has 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her and loved her.

A celebration of life/remembrance ceremony will be held by the family in her honor at a later date.
