Henry was the son of Henry Champion and his wife Susan Peck. He married Eunice Miller, and they had seven children. "Henry Champion served in the War of 1812 as Sergeant of Capt. Sylvanus Smith's company, doing duty at New London." Henry is buried next to his wife Eunice, and near some of his children. His grave is listed on page 73 of the Connecticut, Hale Collection of Cemetery Inscriptions for Old Lyme, Champion #1 Cemetery, 315-5.
