Wanda Jean Davis, 89, of Mineola, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 26, in Lindale, Texas. She was born on September 5, 1932, to the late James Edward & Maudie Clark Meadows. She was a graduate of Tyler High School.
Wanda grew up on her family's farm and had a carefree childhood with her brothers and sisters. She was raised in a Christian home and going to church was the highlight of their week. Wanda loved her family, friends, and her neighbors. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed baking her grandson's their favorite pies at Christmas each year. She attended church all of her life and was a member of Hainesville Baptist Church at the time of her death. She loved the Lord, His Word, His Day and His People. She especially loved hymns and gospel music.
She was a devoted wife to Charles and mother to Terry. She was proud of her two grandsons and four great – grandchildren. She was married to her only sweetheart, Charles Murphy Davis, for 69 years before his death in May of 2020. They enjoyed living life together, traveling, going to church, teaching Sunday school & children's church for many years. They were devoted to the Lord and each other. When Charles' health began to decline, Wanda was by his side day and night, caring for him and loving him. After he passed away, she felt lost without him. In January 2021, she was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer. Even though she eventually lost her battle with cancer, she never lost her faith in God.
She is survived by her son, Terry Davis and wife Janeye; brother, Kirk Meadows and wife Barbara; sister in law, Mary Davis; grandsons, Brandon Davis and wife Lori, Damon Davis and wife Tami; great grandchildren, Emaleigh Davis Pyle and husband Mason, Cason Davis, Cole Davis and Grayson Davis. She also leaves her nieces and nephews; Sandy Roberts, Delane Capps, Wanda Hogan, Rip Duncan, Pam Starkey, Sue Chamness, William Davis, and Harley David Hooper.
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters, Virginia Fleming and Mary Estelle Hooper; brothers, David Meadows and James Edward Meadows, Jr; niece, Patricia Garvin; nephews, Randy Paul Meadow, Jeff Davis and Butch Barroist.
The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation for the entire staff of Choice Hospice Care and Colonial Nursing Center of Lindale. We saw the love of Christ in each of you as you cared for our mother. May God bless you for the love that you show to your patients and families.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the Hainsville Baptist Church, 3368 FM 49, Mineola, Texas 75773.
