Charles R. Vandergriff, 88, a lifelong resident of Hixson, Tennessee, died Saturday, December 4, 2021 in a local hospital. Charles lived a long and full life and he will be missed.

He was an Ironworker from Local 704 and he served in the United States Army. He had many hobbies such as fishing, hunting and camping. He especially loved to be with his numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lee Vandergriff; brother, Jimmy Vandergriff and sisters, "Toodeloo" Compton and June Sims.

He is survived by a daughter, Bunny (Tom) Bruno; sons, Keith Vandergriff and Ronnie (Tonya) Vandergriff; nine grandchildren, Seventeen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Tommy (Betty) Vandergriff, Peggy (Gary) Wright, Patsy Vandergriff, Ginger Daniels, Gene (Saundra) Vandergriff, Larry (Inez) Vandergriff and Terry (Debbie) Vandergriff.

Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 10, 2021 in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In keeping with Mr. Vandergriff's wishes, in lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Hospice of Chattanooga at www.hospiceofchattanooga.org or the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org
