Gary will be honored with a memorial on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Southside Baptist Church at 3 p.m. in Olney, Texas.
Gary was born on August 16, 1946 in Houston, Texas. Later, he moved to Wichita Falls, Texas from the Missouri area where he met the love of his life Kathleen Heath. They married and settled in Olney, Texas. Gary was a devoted husband and father. As a lifelong avid outdoorsman, fishing fanatic, and firearm enthusiast who loved to share these passions with anyone who would listen. If you had a Texas chihuahua, you would have been his best friend. He was the man you wanted to be around, and he would brighten your mood. He was very involved in his children's lives, accomplished 4-H shooting coach, and loved that he was able to show his wife to be the best shot. With his favorite line being, " Dr. Fields can fix anything but a broken heart." he cared for and nurtured anyone that needed him. Gary was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Fields; brother Glenn Fields of Missouri; children: son Garland Fields and Jayne Roberts of Wichita Falls, Texas; daughter Ginger and Roy Dyer of Holliday, Texas; daughter Sarah and Pepher Johnson of Olney, Texas; and daughter Geri and Jimmy Collins of Throckmorton, Texas; 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
