Erin and her friend Jeremy were reported missing on April 3, 2000. After 21 years, 7 months and 27 days, Erin's remains, along with those of Jeremy Bechtel were found by volunteer diver Jeremy Sides (Exploring With Nug) in a submerged vehicle in Sparta Tennessee and identified on December 1, 2021.

ERIN LEIGH FOSTER was born February 28, 1982 to Cecil Aaron and Leigh Ann Williams Foster. She was a student at White County High School. Erin was a perfectionist in everything she did - whether she was helping her mother around the house or assisting her dad with mechanic work. With her mechanical talents, Erin aspired to be an airplane mechanic following high school. She had great pride in herself and her family, always willing to take up for her younger brother if needed.
Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include her parents Cecil and Leigh Ann Foster; brother Will Foster; aunts: Sue Savage, Gail (Eugene) Lawson, Wanda (Gary) Stafford, Brenda Pope, Sharron (Byron) Mason, Laurie (Tom) Pemberton and Lynda Jolley;
