I have just found a record for Michael Werner in Headstones Provided for Deceased Union Civil War Veterans, 1879-1903. This may explain why there are two stones, one from the family and one for his Civil War service.
- Laurie ------- Michael Werner was born in Lobsens, Posen, Prussia and was the 10th child of Johan and Karolena Werner. he served in the CO. B of the U.S. Infantry in the Spanish American War in Cuba. He lost his life in that war at the age of 38 years. His remains were sent back and buried at the St. John's Cemetery Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He has two head stones.
