Husband of Elma Nafe Klingensmith.
Son of Heman U. Klingensmith and Mabel A. Law.

Rex was born in the farming area of Grand Meadow Twp., graduated from Grand Meadow H.S. in 1928, attended Morningside College and returned to Grand Meadow to live until the time of his death in a nearby Kingsley, IA nursing home.
He married Elma Nafe 05 Nov 1933 at Moville, Iowa. They farmed in Grand Meadow, first renting land and in 1941 buying 160 acres about one mile from the farm he was born on.
Rex was an innovative and hard-working, productive farmer and was also adept at projects ranging from building a barn to installing indoor plumbing to making kitchen cabinets. In addition to his farm life he served many years on the school board, was a church trustee for over thirty years and became active in the Grand Meadow Heritage Center after it's founding.
He and Elma traveled regularly from the early days of their marriage and saw much of the US.
He was seldom without a smile, a word of cheer or having an interest about subjects he was unfamiliar with.
They had four children: Larry R, Mrs. Twila Klaschen, Mrs. Betty Elser, and Mrs. Gail Chinn.

My extended family.
