Joyce was born on December 22, 1931, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Harry and Veronica Schalk.

Joyce is survived by 2 children, 5 grandchildren , 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Also survived by 2 sisters and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Ralph Martin, and her son Ralph Martin and one grandson David A. Martin.
