Mrs. Lucille James Austin, age 89, of Venia, Virginia, went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family on Saturday (December 4, 2021) at her home. Born May 20, 1932 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late John Frank and Edith Hess James. A lifelong resident o the area, she was the oldest member of Venia Chapel Church. She enjoyed crocheting, word puzzles, coloring, and cooking, but most of all spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Austin, one daughter, Rita Gay Honaker, one brother, Dallas James, one sister, Martha McGlothlin, and sons-in-law, Jimmy Honaker and Junior Cook.
Survivors include four daughters, Kathy Honaker of Honaker, Cheryl Cook of Venia, Carol Ann Sauls and husband, Steve of Rowe, and Henrietta Ray and husband, David of Vansant, Virginia; one sons, Thomas Henry Austin and wife, Camillia of Rosedale; two sisters, Nilah Dillard and Fayrene Rasnake; one brother, Darrell James; six grandchildren, Jimmy Lee Honaker, Dana Beth Jarvis, Sheena Young, Chelsea Owens, Issac Austin, and Cameron Austin; five great-grandchildren, Dylan Cook, Austin Honaker, Anna Honaker, Harper Young, and Ryker Owens; two step-grandchildren, Ella Young, and Sophia Young; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services are private.
