Sandra Lee Meredith, 74, of Ormond Beach, Florida, formerly of Sullivan, Illinois. died 3:05 p.m. (EST) in The Coquina Center, Ormond Beach, Florida.

Sandra was born June 5, 1943 in Evansville, Indiana, the daughter of Oscar Thomas Smith and Margaret Ann Smith. Sandra was raised in Samburg, Tennessee where her parents ran a fishing lodge on Reelfoot Lake. She graduated from Hornbeak High School in 1961 where she had been crowned Homecoming Queen. Sandra returned to Evansville, Indiana after high school to attend the University of Evansville and graduated from there in 1965.

After graduation Sandra joined the U.S. Civil Service and was shipped overseas where she worked with orphans from the Vietnam War. She had other assignments, and as fate would have it, on one of those assignments she garnered the attention of General William Westmoreland, the commander of U.S. forces in the Vietnam War. As an aide to the general, Sandra traveled all over Vietnam and Thailand, working where his headquarters were located.

Sandra then worked in the medical field for many years, namely as administrator of Fields-Wright Medical Center in Sullivan. Her greatest accomplishments; however, was her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mom, and grandma.

Sandra married her soul mate, Paul Meredith, on October 17, 1987. They retired to Ormond Beach, Florida in 2003. She was a member of the Providence Church in Ormond Beach, Florida.

Sandra loved to travel and was fortunate to visit many different places during her lifetime. Her trips with Paul took her to Spain, Morocco, Portugal, France, Germany, England, Mexico and her favorite destination, Israel, as well as hundreds of places across the United States.
