When Martin Gentry Brooks was born on April 30, 1905, in Cherryvale, Kansas, his father, Leonard, was 35 and his mother, Myra, was 20. The eldest brother of the dancer, actress, and writer Louise Brooks. He had two sons with Adele Olmstead between 1925 and 1931. By 1940 Martin and Adele had divorced. Brooks began working as a photographer and eventually remarried (M. Bernice Brooks). He died on October 4, 1971, in San Carlos, California, at the age of 66.
