Donald Ernest Phillips, 77, of Spartanburg, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021, at his home. He was born April 15, 1944 in Cherokee County, a son of the late Ernest and Linnie Upton Phillips.

Donald was a member of High Point Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. He enjoyed rabbit hunting and raising his beagles, and Friday night high school football games.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Peggy Tessnier Phillips; two daughters, Becky Abbott (Eddie) of Pacolet and Tonya Morrell of Cherokee County; five grandchildren, Justin Phillips (Sharon), Katlyn Crocker (Jonny), Lauren Linder (Michael), Talon Abbott and Dare Bullman (Trey); six great-grandchildren, Nolan, Coran, Watson, Bowen, Presli and Clary; three brothers, Walter Dean Phillips (Mary) of Sumter, SC, Eddie Wayne Phillips (Toni) of Boiling Springs, and Clifford Phillips (Linda) of Gaffney; and his sister, Judy Sullivan (David) of Gaffney.

Donald was predeceased by a son, Donnie Phillips; and siblings, Ellen Tessnier, Johnny Phillips, Mike Strange, Ruby Crossley, Margaret Rogers and Doris Phillips.

The family will receive friends from 1-2:15 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at High Point Baptist Church, 504 High Point Rd, Gaffney, SC 29341. Funeral Service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Church Sanctuary, conducted by the Rev. Clifford Phillips, the Rev. Dennis Tessnier and the Rev. Walter Dean Phillips. Burial will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens.
