Obituary for R. Bryan Wilson
Wilson, R. Bryan age 93 of New Martinsville, WV died Saturday, March 29, 2014 in Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville, WV.
He was born October 17, 1920 in Ravenswood, WV a son of the late Charles Frederick Wilson and Nelle Bryan Wilson Guinn.
He was a retired CEO of Wetzel County Saving and Loan, New Martinsville and Loan Officer at Doolin Security Savings Bank, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, New Martinsville.
His interests in his community were extensive. After becoming a Sea Scout and earning the Quartermaster rank in his youth, he remained an active supporter and served as Regional Commodore of the Sea Scouts of America. He was always involved in the New Martinsville Regatta, served as President of the Magnolia Yacht Club. He was one of the Founders and Charter Member of the Rotary Club. He has served as a past president of the Downtown Business Association, the Chamber of Commerce, and the River Heritage Foundation. He was a member of the Wetzel Historical Society and the Riverfront Development Commission.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Wilson and one sister, Madeline Sneddon.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Eve Wilson, one son, Joseph Wilson of New Martinsville and two daughters, Judy (Jim) Helsel of Lake City, PA and Leslie (Marvin) Gay of St. Petersburg, FL; a step sister, Joan Mason and a step brother, Ed Guinn, both of Parkersburg, WV; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory 751 Third St. New Martinsville, WV, where services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 pm with Pastor David Roberts officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. New Martinsville.
