He was born December 29, 1939, in Utica son of the late Charles E. and Eileen Zoller Rose. He attended Utica and Oriskany Falls Schools and then later attended MVCC for police training. Rodger served in the US Marine Corps from 1956-64, serving during the Bay of Pigs, and serving several embassy assignments.
He retired as a Sergeant in the New Hartford Police Department after 30 years of service. He later worked with the New Hartford Central School District.
Roger was a member of the New Hartford American Legion Post # 1376
He enjoyed golfing and also enjoyed having coffee with his buddies, Jim, Tom, Joe, Jack and John.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Donnelly; his children Michele (Rose) Cross, Scott Rose, Chad (Kaitlin) Rose, Jaclyn Rose (Anthony DeFuria), Andrea (Christian) Morgia, Allison (Jeremy) Holmes, Lindsey (Mike) Osgood; his grandchildren, Connor and Carleah Morgia, Evan and Elle Holmes, Cassidy and Lincoln Osgood, Ian Rose, Fiona Rose, Kaleigh Rose, Logan Rose and Mia DeFuria; his siblings Dolores Boehlert, Shirley Miller and Beverly Charboneau; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shelly and Dennis Johnson; a sister-in-law, Bonne Livermore Rose and several nieces and nephews and his dogs Bo and Mazee. He was predeceased by his brother Richard T. Rose, his brothers-in-law, Richard Boehlert, Ralph Miller, and Robert Charboneau.
The family wishes to thank the various police departments, Yorkville, Whitestown and New Hartford for their response and kindness and compassion shown to Roger's family.
Calling hours are on Tuesday from 4-7 PM at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. A funeral service will follow at 7 pm. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
