George William Seay, 89, of Davis Creek Community, Lovingston, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at the Lovingston Health Care Center.
Born at Davis Creek (Nelson County) on Jan. 5, 1913, he was a son of the late Willie Daniel Seay and Sue Fortune Seay.
He was a self-employed farmer all his life and a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rolene Harris Seay; two sons, William "Billy" Seay of Lovingston, and Grady G. Seay of Charlottesville; four grand-children, Lesley, William, Clay and Katie; and one sister, Nita S. Davidson of Charlottesville.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Laura Martin.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Oak Hill Baptist Church near Lovingston, with the Rev. Pete Russell officiating with interment in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the interment in the Social Hall of the church where dinner will be served.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and suggest that memorials take the form of donations in honor of William to the Nelson County Rescue Squad at Faber, Va. 22938 or Oak Hill Baptist Church, 248 Davis Creek Lane, Lovingston, Va. 22949.
Pallbearers will be David Davidson, Russell Lee Evans, Doug Harvey, Wayne Fortune, John Bittinger and Bill Thomas.
Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel of Lovingston, is in charge of arrangements.
