David was born July 31, 1954 in Russellville, Arkansas to John Henry and Marie (McConnell) Blankenship. He was an AOV Field Service engineer in the nuclear power industry and the former owner/operator of D&B Excavation. David loved stock car racing, John Wayne movies, Blue Bell Dutch Chocolate ice cream, and spending time on the lake with his family, but his favorite thing was when he was promoted to Papaw of his 5 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother, Marie Blankenship and his father-in-law Leo Rickard.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years Lisa Blankenship; children, Todd (Brittany) Blankenship of Danville, and Sarah Burnett of Rover; siblings, Johnny Ray (Joyce) Blankenship and Janell (Jimmy) Fowler all of Rover, Debra (Billy) Lofland of Bluffton, Cindy Rickard of Perryville, and Amy Rickard of Plainview; mother-in-law, Veta Rickard of Plainview; grandchildren Weston, Tatem, and Keaton Blankenship of Danville, and Drake and Isabella Burnett of Rover, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who he loved.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Rover Baptist Church with John David Keeling and Seth Drewry officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, December 6 at Cornwell Funeral Home in Danville. Private burial will be in Blankenship Family Cemetery in Rover.
Pallbearers are Stephen Blankenship, Donnie Fowler, Jacky Paul Fowler, Jacob Lofland, Lucas Carter, and Blake Reed.
Honorary pallbearers are Weston and Keaton Blankenship, Drake Burnett, and his beloved nuclear power family from all across the U.S.
