Steven Henry Peterson, 71, of West Union, Iowa died Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Gundersen Palmer Hospital, West Union, Iowa 52175.
Steven Henry Peterson was born on May 15, 1950, to Henry and Sylvia (Rogness) Peterson in West Union, Iowa. He attended country school until the 8th grade and graduated from North High School in 1968.
In 1970, he was drafted into the Army and spent two years in Heidelberg, Germany.
Steve was honorably discharged in 1972 and returned home where he joined his father on the family farm where they milked cows and grew crops. In 1979, his parents moved to town and he purchased the farm from them and continued farming.
In 1982, Steve was united in marriage to Cheryl Stepp, and one son was born to this union.
In 1985, he transitioned from farming to working for Imperial Roof Systems in West Union for 10 plus years. After roofing, Steve worked for his cousin Dennis at North East Iowa Silo Company. After working for Dennis, he worked at Olson Construction building many houses in the West Union/North East Iowa area. Steve finished his working career there.
Steve enjoyed fishing in his pond, playing cards, going to car shows, and spending time with his family and friends on the farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sonja.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 4-7 pm at Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home, West Union, Iowa and one hour before services at the church on Monday.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am on Monday, December 6, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church, West Union, Iowa with Rev. Duane Miller as the Officiant.
Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery, West Union, Iowa.
