Heather Geanine Herring was born at Methodist Hospital in Dallas, TX on a beautiful fall afternoon, September 15, 1970, to Emmett Leroy and Peggy Ann (Clark) Herring. She was treasured by her family from that moment on. Her grandfather Johns Elvin Clark waxed poetic over her Cherub's bow lips. Her cousins Dan and Dereck Dodson thought she looked like a "Peanut" when they saw her through the nursery window, so Peanut was her family nickname.

Heather was reborn in God's arms October 19, 2021.

Heather graduated from Duncanville High School in 1988. She was always so proud of attending the University of Texas, Arlington. She moved to Jacksonville in 1991 to live in her grandparents' home at Lake Jacksonville. Her first job there was at Nan Travis Hospital as an ER clerk. You know your in East Texas when you walk your child to school because you are in the same grade… Heather and her daddy graduated college at the same time. She graduated with her BS in Education in 1994 and later received her MS Mid Management in 2018. She taught English at Jacksonville, Lindale. Paul Pewitt, Spring Hill, Pine Tree, and Neches which was her favorite of all.

She absolutely loved literature, the classics. She was so creative and proud to be a member of both Delta Zeta Sorority and the Duncanville High Hats. Heather enjoyed traveling and was so happy to have been to Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and England.

Heather loved her place at Lake Jacksonville where she gained peace and solace. Her "happy place" was on a tree swing while drinking coffee overlooking the cove. Heather had a long relationship with her Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Jacksonville and the Serendipity Sunday School class. She led her children to a relationship with the Lord as well.

She was the 21st of 31 grandchildren to Clyde and Addie Cornelia (Patterson) Herring and was the first of 8 grandchildren to Johns and Betty Lou (Wooldridge) Clark. Johns Clark's wife G. Jean (Dodson) Clark was the only maternal grandmother Heather knew.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; brother, Jonathan Kent Herring; several dear aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friend, Holly Adams.

Left to cherish Heather's memory are parents, Emmett and Peggy Ann Herring of Jacksonville; son, Emmett Riley Hunter Hicks of Lone Oak; daughter, Andrea Taylor Hicks of Jacksonville; and her nieces, Jocelyn Kate and Jordyn Kassidy Herring of Jacksonville. She is also survived by loving sister friend, Michelle Morton of Plano. Heather has numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who have loved her. She also has a world full of friends who have loved her and will miss her.

There will be a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers and if your heart leads you, donations could be made to the First United Methodist Church-Methodist Readiness School in her memory. Her children began their educations there.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date and the family yard fight will be scheduled in the Spring.
