Rev. John H. Wheeler

GALVESTON — Rev. John H. Wheeler, 72, of Galveston passed away Saturday, November 23 at
St. Mary's Hospital in Galveston.

Mr. Wheeler was born in Imboden, Arkansas and had been a resident of Galveston for 5 years.

Mr. Wheeler was a retired United Methodist Minister and was currently serving at San Leon Methodist Church near Galveston. Mr. Wheeler has served at Crosby United Methodist Church, Asbury Methodist Church in Beaumont, First United Methodist Church of Lindale, In Troupe, Hallsville and throughout East Texas.

Mr. Wheeler was an Instructor in Army Air Corp WW II, a Mason, and Honored as outstanding Citizen by the Optimist International.

Mr. Wheeler is survived by. his wife, Veneta H. Wheeler of Galveston; 3 daughters and son-in-laws, Sharron and Jack Seely and Trudy and Tien Le all of Austin, Janis and Dennis Wild of Smithville; 2 sisters, Irene Glenn of Salina, Kansas and Lola Brooks of Guymon, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren, Dawn and J.J. Seely of Austin and Tabitha and Tim Dawson of Lindale; 2
nieces and several nephews.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., today at Moody Memorial First United Methodist Church of
Galveston with Bishop Ben Oliphint, Dr. Bob W. Parrott and Dr. J. Stewart Bell officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 27 at Texas Methodist Conference Cemetery - Lakeview Methodist Assembly near Palestine with the Rev. Bruce Krause officiating.

For those who desire - donations may be made to the Education for Theology Students and a Fund to Feed the Hungry. To the Attention of: Ray Pinard at the Edgewater Retirement Center in Galveston.
