Una Dell Hester, age 99, a resident of Katherine's Place in Fayetteville, Arkansas died December 1, 2021.

She was born January 31, 1922 in Canehill, Arkansas, the daughter of Leland Virgil and Dessa (Ferguson) Walker.

She was a 1939 graduate of Canehill High School.

She worked as a switchboard operator for the local telephone company. Later she attended Draughon's Business College in Fort Smith, and worked as a bookkeeper there for several years.

She and Clarence Cephus Hester, from Alabama, were married May 3, 1945 in Sebastian County. Arkansas. He was stationed with the Army at Fort Chaffee. In 1950 they moved to Alabama for a few years and then returned to Fort Smith for the remainder of his life.

Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, and grandmother along with helping others.

She was a member of Central Christian Church.

She was a volunteer for 14 years at Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith.

In later years Una Dell enjoyed attending Branson shows with family members. She moved to Prairie Grove in 2010 to be near her children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; daughter, Carol Bursey; five sisters, Zula B. Pitts, Ina Mae Pitts, Reba Lee David, Marcia Dee Reed and Buena Vee Walter; and a brother, Jack D. Walker.

She is survived by a son. Rod Hester (and wife, Cathy) of Prairie Grove; son-in-law Gene Bursey of New Braunfels, Texas;, along with grandchildren Eric Bursey & wife Molly of New Braunfels, Jason Hester of Prairie Grove; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Una Dell will be laid to rest at Cox Cemetery near Morrow, Arkansas.
