Anna Irene King, the daughter of Russell and Jessie (Siehl) King, was born on November 28, 1923, in Grinnell. She was raised near Grinnell and attended Sheridan Township country school #4 until 8th grade. She graduated from Grinnell High School, Class of 1941.
Irene married Glen E. Anderson on May 19, 1945, at her parents farm home west of Grinnell. They lived on farms near Grinnell, Dunbar, and Kellogg before moving to Newton. In September of 1999, they moved to Seeland Park in Grinnell. They enjoyed wintering in Arizona, Florida, and Texas. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, and visiting with friends and family. She was a member of the Kellogg Christian Church and the Seeland Park Parkettes, a line dancing group.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Marcie Fritz, Dr. Rick Anderson, Donald Anderson, Judy Stevenson, Evelyn Rowley, Dale Anderson, Glen Wickersham, Gale Wickersham, Beverly Squiers, Ronald Adams, Dora Spencer, and Dennis Koger; her great nieces and nephews; and Bob Youngkin's children, Dennis, Hal, Larry, and Shari.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother in infancy; her husband, Glen Anderson; and longtime friend, Bob Youngkin.
