Civil War Veteran, He was killed at the voting place in 1876. Married to Nancy Starkey Oct. 3 1860. He served under A A Russell in his 4th Cavalry unit with his brother and brother in laws. Son of Bryant Thornhill and Nancy Bain.
William joined the Confederate Army at Bellefonte in May of 1861, serving the first 12 months as 4th Corporal in Capt. John Snodgrass's company called the "Jackson Hornets" per the May 27th 1961 Roster.
