Son of Will Johnson and Rosevelt Jones-Johnson. At the age of 2, he and his family moved to Decatur, IL. He attended Decatur Public School. In 1959, he graduated from Stephen Decatur High School. He married Jean Jarrett in 1960. In 1960, he started working at Wagner Castings Company, and retired after 37 years as a foreman. In his retirement, hea ttended the University of Illinois-Extension Master Gardner's Program, and received multiple awards for his achievement. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Julia B Redd; and special uncle, Archie Johnson. Survivors include his daughters, Rhonda (Gregory Sr.) Johnson-Larkins of Atlanta, GA, Sonia (David) Cobb of Chicago, IL; son, Ronald (Valerie) Walter of Cleveland, MS; granddaughters, Kierra Harris, Rhonda Ford, Sungie and Davia Cobb, Tiara and Ainya Hall, and Kaylin (Tommoris) Reese; grandsons, Gregory Jr. and Chaz Larkins, and Darius Shavers; nine great-grandchildren; aunt, Arletha Johnson; special cousin,s Willie Lee, Oscar Ford and Mary Alice Grayned; and special great nephew, Antonio Webb, Jr.
