Donald "Don" Eugene Mason, of New Martinsville, WV born June 3, 1938 in Arivilla, WV the son of Carl and Cora Mason passed from this life November 30, 2021. Don is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Nettie Mason and his four children, and their spouses, Mike and Nancy Mason of Scott Depot, WV, Danny and Tracy Mason of New Martinsville, WV, Carla and Ryan Williams of Morgantown, WV and Chad and Jodi Mason of Rochester, NY and seven grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan and wife, Amanda, Shane, Zak, Zoe, Cole and Reed.

Don graduated from Magnolia High School in 1956 and then earned an Associate Degree in Chemistry from Marietta College. He began his professional career as a lab technician in the Research & Development division at PPG's Natrium plant. He then went into the retail clothing business with partner, Sam Wiener. Together Don and Sam owned retail stores in New Martinsville including Temple Men's and Youthtown located on Main Street and Act Two in the New Martinsville Plaza. Don also served two terms as Mayor of New Martinsville and was a member of the Wetzel County Commission for twenty-four years, serving two terms as County Commission President. Along with these notable professional accomplishments Don was also an active leader in the community serving as current member of Rotary Club and past president, a member of the Moose Lodge No. 931 ritual team, New Martinsville Chamber of Commerce, also serving a term as chamber president and was active in the New Martinsville Jaycees. He was a member of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ where he also served as an Elder and sang in the church choir. A passionate waterfowl hunter, the outdoorsman and conservationist Don was a founding member of the Wetzel County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. He was also selected as New Martinsville Citizen of the Year in 1977 and twice was honored as Wetzel County Democrat of the Year.

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, December 10, 2021 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville, the family respectfully requests that masks be worn regardless of vaccination status. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 521 Maple Ave., New Martinsville. Burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in New Martinsville.
